Admission to B.Sc. Nursing / B.Pharm / B.P.T. / B.O.T. Courses for 2008 – 2009 Session

Applications are invited from the citizens of India who are native of Tamil Nadu for admission to B.Sc.(Nursing)/ B.Pharm/ B.P.T / B.O.T. Degree courses for 2008-2009

session in Government/Self-Financing Para Medical Institutions coming under the purview of Single Window System in the State of Tamil Nadu.

1. Issue of Application Forms with Prospectus:

The application form with Prospectus will be issued from all the following Government Medical Colleges on all days from 16-07-2008 to 30-07-2008, upto 3.00 p.m.

Madras Medical College, Chennai-3.
Stanley Medical College, Chennai-1.
Madurai Medical College, Madurai-20.
Thanjavur Medical College, Thanjavur.
Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai-10
Chengalpattu Medical College, Chengalpattu.
Tirunelveli Medical College, Tirunelveli.
Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore.
Mohan Kumaramangalam Govt. Medical College, Salem.
K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College, Trichy.
Thoothukudi Goverment Medical College, Thoothukudi.
Kanyakumari Goverment Medical College, Asaripallam, Nagarcoil.
Vellore Goverment Medical College, Adukkamparai, Vellore.
Theni Goverment Medical College, Theni.
Government College of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Tiruchirappalli.
Application forms will not be issued from the Directorate of Medical Education and Office of the Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10.

2. The candidates can obtain the application on a written requisition to the Deans/ Principal of the above Government Medical Institutions duly enclosing a crossed Demand Draft from any Nationalised Bank dated not earlier than 15-07-2008 payable at Chennai in favour of "The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10", towards the cost of application form with Prospectus.

3. Cost of Applications :-

Common Application Form for B.Pharm,
B.Sc.(Nursing), B.P.T and B.O.T Courses - Rs.350/-
Application Form for B.Pharm. Course
(Lateral Entry for D.Pharm. passed candidates only) - Rs.350/-
Application Form for Special Category - Rs.100/-
S.C/S.T. candidates are exempted from payment of cost of application. They can obtain the application on written requisition duly enclosing the attested xerox copy of the Community Certificate and +2 Mark Sheet.

Applications can also be downloaded from the Website: www.tnhealth.org www.tn.gov.in and can be submitted along with the required Demand Draft.

"Downloaded Application sent without Demand Draft will not be considered. S.C/S.T candidates need not enclose Demand Draft.

4. Applications for Special Category:

Children of Ex-Servicemen
Physically handicapped
Candidates applying under Special Category should fill up the Common Application Form prescribed for General Category and the application form prescribed for Special Category which can be obtained on payment of Rs.100/- in the form of Demand Draft.

Candidates applying under Special Category should submit the application with relevant documents. Without required documents, the claim will not be considered under any circumstances. S.C / S.T candidates need not enclose Demand Draft.

5. Age Limit:

The candidates should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December 2008.

6. Qualification:

Candidates should have passed H.Sc. (Academic Examination conducted by the State Board or any other equivalent examination in the First appearance.

B.Pharm : All categories other than SC/ST:Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology or Mathematics both in Theory and Practical with a minimum of 35% marks and with not less than 50% aggregate marks in the above subjects is mandatory.

For SC / ST: Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology or Mathematics both in Theory and Practical with a minimum of 35% of marks and with not less than 40% aggregate marks in the above subjects A pass in English with a minimum of 35% marks is mandatory. (ii) B.Sc. (Nursing)

For OC candidates: Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology (both Theory and Practical) and English with a minimum of 35% marks in each of above subject and with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology and English".

For BC/BCC/BCM/MBC/DC/SC/ST Candidates : Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology (both Theory and Practical) and English with a minimum of 35% marks in each of above subject and with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology and English". (iii) B.P.T. / B.O.T.

All Categories: Individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology both Theory and Practical with a minimum of 35% of marks in each of the above subjects is mandatory.

English: A Pass in English with a minimum of 35% marks is mandatory.

7. D.Pharm candidates seeking admission under Lateral Entry Scheme:

Candidates belonging to all communities should have an aggregate of 50% of marks in the Part I (First Year) and Part ll(Second Year) in D.Pharm Examinations with a pass in HSC with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics.

Candidates belonging to all communities must have obtained not less than 50% of marks in aggregate in HSC with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics with a pass in two year D.Pharm Course.
The candidates who have passed the Diploma in Pharmacy course should submit the provisional certificate for having passed the Diploma Examination and should have completed 500/750 hours of practical training at the time of applying for the B.Pharm Course. The Diploma candidates will be admitted into Second year B.Pharm course directly under Lateral Entry Scheme (for further details the prospectus may be referred).
Candidates of Tamil Nadu origin who have studied in Diploma in Pharmacy in other State have to produce Eligibility Certificate from Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University, Chennai -32.
8. Candidates who have passed HSC course in Vocational Stream are not eligible to apply.

9. Last Date for Receipt of Application Forms with enclosures is upto 5.00 P.M. on 30-7-2008 in the office of:

10. Applications received after the prescribed date and time will not be considered and postal delay cannot be condoned.
